Not My Cup Of Tea: Six Face Powders I Could Give Two Shits About

11:38 PM

Hello all! I am in the midst of de-cluttering, which includes my skincare and makeup collection. I've been checking for expiry dates and also keeping in mind of whether I like these products or not! Of course, this means more Quality Content up in here.

I'm no licensed MUA; I only dabble in makeup casually as a means to cover up my rosacea, in some wild attempt to look even-toned. Even though my skill level is still rising, I'm no where near where I want/aspire to be. I also consider makeup to be art.

That being said, my dry skinned face shrivels up whenever I use most powders, which is definitely not art. To loosely quote Cher Horowitz, my face ends up looking like a Monet: "pretty from a distance but looks like a hot mess when you're close up"--just a few hours after setting my face (or just under eyes) with a powder.  I like to set my under eyes, in the least....but I've found that most powders just don't work!! I try to hit pan on them, to get my $$ worth but honestly....it's not worth it!!!

Here are six powders that basically I could give two shits about.

e.l.f. perfect finish powder pact

Granted, I've had this now for a good two years so there is a high possibility that the version out now has been reformulated....but this powder pact sucks! Affordable (yes!) but it does show with flash photography--for me at least. It also makes my skin appear drier than it is, even in its most dry Sahara desert level of parched!

I don't care that its a supposed dupe for MUFE--e.l.f's loose powder version is only remotely in the plane of existence of the MUFE loose powder, but the e.l.f pressed pact is the same as an unfunny Family Guy gag: unwanted and disgusting, and should've ended five years ago. No matter how cheap it is, I never plan to RP, unless I'm mysteriously an oil slick overnight!

palladio rice powder rp02 translucent

I honestly don't know why I bought this--let's keep it at that. At the time, I didn't really know much about makeup, shades and even skin type so I had picked this up a good....four? years ago, at my local Sally's, without much thought. Now, I see how this doesn't match with my skin type and can now of course, making better buying decisions (mostly, lol).

This is a loose mineral powder that is a is best for olive to medium skin tones, with oily skin. I liked how the puff was square but that was about it.

rimmel stay matte long lasting pressed powder
This is probably my oldest powder...at about six years--still not too sure exactly WHY I've kept this, but no longer! It served a purpose, long before, but I believe it's gone bad now--there's a weird smell and it's definitely too chalky for my liking.

wet n wild coverall pressed powder compact

I suppose...........this powder is more or less an #empty but this was my go-to favourite powder, a good four or five years ago. Seeing this again while destashing and decluttering my makeup stash brought up some memories of being in college and whacking this on my face.

maybelline fit powder 115 ivory

This has been another powder that has lingered longer than necessary in my stash--for no real reason, really! It's been taking up space but at one point, I did like it. I feel now that it's yet another powder that suited towards oily to normal skin types, not in any realm of dry.

clear skin minerals pink fairy dust

I left this to last, but this is a product that I previously received for free via 08.L USA, in exchange for an honest review, but like.....in 2016.......! At the time, I found the powder to be too chalky and the glitter, unnecessary. I'd rather give as little press as possible on this product. Now, after a good year has passed I still don't like it, so I'm giving this a well-deserved good-bye!

Good night, and time to throw these away!
