REVIEW: Herbal Extra Sparkling Cocktail Bath Salts - Muscat Grape

1:24 AM

Good evening my dears! I'm awfully slow at churning out posts, but I digress. A few months ago, I received a PR sampler of masks and whatnot from Japan Pack, a Japan based indie mask box service. I hadn't had the chance to use all the goodies yet, but I'm here with some exciting news!

An excuse but simple explanation: the drain stopper to my bath tub has been stuck until recently. I had the plumber check out it while here to fix other things and it works now--I can take baths (again). Cue a semi-overdue review for Herbal Extra Sparkling Cocktail Bath Salts, in Muscat Grape!

To my understanding, Herbal Extra is a small range of bath salts to parent company Ffid (フィード), that distributes and manufactures toothbrushes, various skincare and body products, cosmetics and quasi-drugs within Japan, including products that are in hotels.

After much digging and just plain reading the packet for myself, I found some info~! The packet details that the salts contain lactoferrin as an active ingredient, to help make the skin "nice" (lololol).

 ingredients | 成分
sodium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, silica, lactoferrin, butylene glycol, water, lactic acid, ethanol, fragrance, yellow 8, blue no.1

酸Na、炭酸水素Na、シリカ、ラクトフェリン(牛乳)、BG、水、乳酸、エタノール、香科、黄202(1)、青 1

You need to be clean first if you want a better bath experience, but either way, prep yourself! The directions are uh.....obvious, but prepare the warm to hot water and empty the packet. Allow approx. 40 mins to amply relax in the water.

I decided to clean my tub before using.  Uhuhuhu~~~~it's almost bath time~~~~~!

price - 25~100 yen
scent - muscat grape
water colour - green

Even though the bath salt packet recommends hot water, my bath water gets hot for a few moments and stays a steady mild warm--it's hotter when taking a shower--so it's hard to maintain a steady, hotter bath water temperature for that recommended 38 to 40 mins. I also eyeballed the water amount (shhh, don't tell!).

After opening the packet, a sweet, artificial scent like grape juice hit my nose. It was pleasant, but soon dissipated once I emptied the bath salt packet into the bath water, which turned a nice shade of green.

I let the green bath salts gradually fade away, while mildly fizzing. The sweet grape scent was long gone, by now. I soaked in the tub for a good half an hour and just let my body relax.

Once I stepped out, I grabbed a Salux towel and went to work on exfoliating away my dead skin while it was still damp. I also found my skin on my lower half to be noticeably softer--I've officially become a bath person again!
