skincare
For the past almost three years, I have an avid user of Kose's Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil. It's great for removing my face and eye makeup with ease. The base is mineral and sunflower oil which adds to the gritty texture--something I'm neither here or there about. I have one more bottle, then I may give it a rest as I've grown to prefer cleansing balms over oils.
From the moment I opened the tube, this Daiso Peeling Gel smelled off and downright rank! I didn't even want this near my face so I set it aside. It smelled nothing like peach but a rather dirty musk. WNRP.
Not too surprising, but I went through another bag of Shiseido Facial Cotton Squares. This might seem silly, but I think I prefer other brands now, especially those cotton square that have layers and are thinner, even the cheaper Shiseido cotton squares (that are different than these)
Earlier this year, I received Pyunkang Yul's Mist Toner via Love Pink Seoul for review purposes and I definitely liked it! I'd actually purchase this to continue using straighter after cleansing, but before any FTE (I'm using Kikumasamune as an FTE). I just want this again in my skincare stash, ASAP.
I actually bought Mizon Special Solution Good Night White Sleeping Mask for my mum last year for Mother's Day and she liked it initially, but grew to dislike it--I could see why. She then gifted it to me and so I started to use it. The sleeping pack is lightweight, cooling with a gentle scent--something that is ideal for any sleeping pack! Unfortunately, even with a good expiry date, the pack makes my cheeks flush a deep red and my face turns HOT!! WNRP, ever, but I will try the A'pieu pack instead (the one with a similar name).
On a mission to use up more of my hand creams (so I can buy more hahah! Not!), I managed to run through two of philosophy's hands creams! The cranberry wasn't my favourite scent per se but I could've bathed in the scent of the raspberries & cream hand cream. I used both when at work and would lather the two on throughout the day, in behind rampant hand washing (I work retail so there's always dust, dirt and plenty of germs!
To be completely honest, I've had these two smith's lip balm salves for longer than I can admit (a good five years.....), so it's time to say good bye! Both were too thick and oily for my liking--the strawberry (right) reminded me of the smell of Strawberry Nesquick.....
hair
Skinfood's Applemango Volume Essence Mist was an absolute delight to spritz on my hair. Seeing as this is currently now $23 on Amazon, there's a higher that Skinfood may not be manufacturing this product anymore, since the label is in the older design with the funky Comic Sans font and it's not even listed by anyone else, besides iherb.com and Skinfood US, who seems to carry a few older items
The Tresemme Volumzing dry shampoo mini was an impulse buy when I stayed at the boyfriend's last time (about March) and finally finished it up. Eh, it works, but it's nothing too fancy!
sheet masks
I thought about doing these as a separate post but if I do, and let them accumulate, the post would never happen.
clockwise:
- huangjisoo british rose hydrating mask - I received these for review purposes via 0.8L USA (already completed the review). I liked them but nothing fancy. edit: I gifted the remaining four at a skincare meetup, to some lovely local AB fanatics!
- tony moly i'm real hydrating lavender mask - this is one of the newer mask sheets, picked up from my local ULTA. I've been enjoying the newer types but I still just enjoy the Makgeolli type the most (as the scent isn't too much too handle, compared to some of the other types. The lavender did live up to it's hydrating claims; I woke up with soft, plump skin, as expected.
- my beauty diary black pearl & caviar masks - not much to say besdes, just trying to use them up! Both have a clear, runny but watery essence that leaves the skin soft, especially if you fall asleep and let the mask stay on your face overnight!
- dr althea water glow skin renewal hydrogel mask - It says premium on the packet--premium, my ass! While I only paid USD$2.49 ea. from TJ Maxx, this was the worst hydrogel mask experience to date. On a clean face with minimal flareups, my face turned a nasty, bright red and felt so hot. The essence, while seemingly cooling, left an oil slick on my skin surface and refused to sink into the skin. I enjoyed the cushion form the same brand, and thought the mask would be up to par--sadly, it was not as exciting of a result.
- holika holika good cera super ceramide mask - I had been saving mask for some odd reason; I remember getting it as a freebie with an eBay order but I'm not sure why I saved it? Anyway, this was a Good Experience for my dry skin and has prompted, no, enlightened me to the ways of the Holy Ceramide. I'm interested in the cream, mist and maybe the emulsion, long before repurchasing the Dr Jart+ Ceramidan Liquid--Holika Holika feels much more...accessible....and affordable!
- daiso foot mask pack - Also not sure why I had been saving this, but no worries! My feet were soft after use, for sure! Daiso isn't readily near me for these little chance for a repurchase.
- herbal extra bath salts - I did a quick review & demo here of these bath salts here, but basically, I enjoyed them, but probably wouldn't RP simply due to lack of accessibility.
- purederm dark circle reducer eye patches - these work fairly well but I'm just trying to use them up, in all honestly. Probably wouldn't RP, unless I found them for dirt cheap at my local TJ Maxx store...
Thanks for reading, and good night!
Time to take out the trash~
